It’s hard to think of the last words said in person just a couple of weeks ago. “We’re sure we’ll be seeing you soon!”  It’s hard to think of just talking to you on the phone or in email within the last couple of days. You’re our buddy, our advocate, the glue that keeps it all together. You never knew this, but we have a habit of calling people by nicknames. Yours was Stevie Wonderful. You were such a blessing when things seemed dark. You came into our lives when we felt we couldn’t trust anyone. And you left our lives being one of the few people we always knew we could trust. You even morphed into characters in our novels (Eddie Willers in Atlas Shrugged should really be named ‘Steven Gates’). You are the most honest and efficient characters in our books, you are the reassuring voice in our heads that everything will be taken care of; you are the invisible hand that moved pianos into place, people onto planes, food onto tables, and ultimate joy onto the stage.

Stevie Wonderful, you will be missed. We will never know how to fill such a wide gap. Our hearts are with the family you left. And yet, it feels as though you’ve left ours as well. Please know of our love for you, and for them vicariously. You will always be remembered. We only hope we can be worthy to meet an incredible person such as yourself on the other side.

Until such a day….

With the utmost love and warmth of spirit,

Desirae, Deondra, Gregory, Melody and Ryan
