Any Anderson & Roe fans in the hizzouse??
I am eternally grateful to Greg Brown for plugging Greg Anderson in his blog because I have been hooked on the music ever since. I loved the arrangements Greg Anderson composed for The 5 Browns and I can't wait to hear more of that! I'd also love if the two power groups merged and jammed! Classical music definitely needs 7 fine pianists working on some concert grand steinway pianos!!
So anyone else here a fan of Greg Anderson and/or the Anderson & Roe piano duo??
(Isn't their Libertango four-hands-one-piano just smokin'!?)

I love(!!!!) classical music! I listen to it all the time. I just barely listened to Anderson & Roe's Libertango. It is SO cool! I love it!
Grieg is my favorite composer who's yours?

Long replies are good. It's true. Classical music shouldn't be defined by those few pieces. Nad it is is fun to add emotion to pieces and it makes them way more interseting and fun to listen to/see.

You're lucky!
If you're going to get the debut album I would definitely recommend spending a little extra to purchase the DualDisc version. It's well worth the money.
And don't hesitate to get the Anderson & Roe CD. It's amazing!!!
I don't know why people don't like classical music. I mean there are so many reasons they don't like it but I don't think there's any one way to explain it. I'd have to say a lot of people have opinions about it before they even listen to artists like T5B and Anderson & Roe. Classical music in pop culture is so cliched (please don't throw rotten veggies at me!). I mean sometimes I get a kick out of hearing a certain piece in a commercial but most times it drives me insane, especially when marketers use certain pieces to illustrate an emotion/concept/etc. Another assumption that drives me insane is that people think certain pieces absolutely define classical music. For instance, when I was in middle school some people (mostly the not so musically literate) thought it was cool to play Fur Elise and they would totally kill it (I'll admit that it's a pretty melody and all but playing without feeling and passion murders the piece). I'm sure we could come up with a whole list if we dedicated time to investigating this.
However, I should mention that I have a confession to make: I'm not entirely exempt from this category (people who don't like classical music) because I'm not really a fan of opera. I've tried and I still try and I'm starting to appreciate it more but I'm not super crazy about it at all.
I shall check out Jon Schmidt's music. It sounds intriguing.
(Oh, and sorry for my long reply!)
Unfortunetly I haven't seen them live. I have seen The 5 Brown's live though. That was pretty amazing. I wish I had had closer seats though. I think we were in like row X. Luckily Kingsbury Hall isn't terribly big and it has pretty good acuastics. One of my friends kept forgetting to breath during the concert. I had gone to a Jon Schmidt (he's really good too. He writes his own music adn stuff like that www.jonschmidt.com) and so I had my breathing more under control.
I need to get Reimagine and The 5 Browns first Cd. I have the other two just not their first. Why don't people like classical music? They should just sit down and listen to The 5 Browns or Anderson & Roe. They will be amazed if they do.

Yeah! Wouldn't the merging be super awesome!!??
When I'm not listening to The 5 Browns (or Josh Groban), I have Reimagine (Anderson & Roe debut album) in heavy rotation. Mannnn. Their music (along with T5B's music) always reminds me how freaking cool classical music is. It also makes me feel like a real classical music amateur because there are so many pieces that I've yet to hear.
Have you been to see Anderson & Roe live? I'm ashamed to admit that I've been to neither The 5 Browns nor Anderson & Roe concerts. I would really love to go because it would be much more interesting to hear and see (!!!) it all happening live.
I am!!! It would be great if the two groups emerged!!!
Libertango is Smoken!!!
